Night Life at the Futuristic Concrete Jungle of Singapore
The one place I can truly call home is Singapore, my favorite urban jungle. During my eight years there, I have visited places from popular tourist destinations to hidden gems. Many places in the world have cold and gloomy weather during the winter. But with the summer weather all year round, every night is the perfect night to experience the city’s unique nightlife. The after-hours activities are what attract many tourists, so here are my top three favorite nightlife destinations in Singapore.
Fly Above the City
The Singapore Flyer Ferris wheel is an iconic symbol of the city. From the peak of the Ferris wheel, you can see up to 28 miles away, as well as Changi Airport, Sentosa Island, and even parts of Malaysia and Indonesia. Looking down from the peak made my stomach drop, but the breathtaking view of the city lights was worth it all.
The Indie and Hippie Street of the City
If you’re looking for a hippie hangout spot, Haji Lane is the place. This street is full of incredible boutiques, bars, cafes, restaurants, and street art. My favorite part is the variety of street art in Haji Lane. A vibrant oasis of colors that covers the concrete lights up the street at night. I always loved taking photos with the variety of graffiti on every wall; it was the perfect background.
The Sparks and Vibrancy above the River
I know Clarke Quay would do the job if I was after some lively nightlife or a good meal. Clarke Quay offers options for any age, budget, music, or dining preference. The neon lights of the district highlight the panoramic view of Clark Quay’s architectural beauty. Whether I need a peaceful walk along the river or to break into my dance shoes, Clarke Quay is the right place to go.
When the sun sets, the spirit around Singapore makes the nightlife more fulfilling. Knowing Singapore is one of the safest countries, I can let go of my worries, enjoy the night breeze, and easily walk home safely. Leaving Singapore was one of my hardest goodbyes, but this small country will always hold a big space in my heart.
